Key Updates
SOCIAL ISOLATION – Stay at least 2 metres from anyone NOT in your immediate household.
MOST AT RISK PATIENTS – NHS England will be writing to these patients to explain why they NEED to remain ISOLATED for the next 12 weeks and the support available.
APPOINTMENTS AT THE SURGERY – Telephone Triage until a more appropriate system is available, please continue to monitor this site. You will only be asked to visit the surgery if CLINICALLY NECESSARY. Avoid coming out unless URGENT.
MEDICATION – Please liaise with local community groups, friends and neighbours to arrange for collections and reduce footfall. Do not ask for extra medication as stockpiling, affects other vulnerable patients. If you need to collect we are limiting the waiting area to a MAXIMUM of 2 to maintain SOCIAL DISTANCING.
PLEASE FOLLOW THIS INFORMATION, HELP US TO HELP YOU BY STAYING AT HOME AS MUCH AS POSSIBLE.
STAY WELL

Update from 18 March 2020

We understand and share the worry that everyone must be feeling due to Coronavirus.  We feel it is crucial that we all come together as a community to support one another at this very difficult time.  We are already hearing amazing stories from some of our local communities wanting to help and support each other, especially those most vulnerable, please keep this up.

Please continue to keep up to date with the latest information using the following websites:

The most important thing we can do is to protect both patients and staff and for this reason we have made some changes to how we will be working over the next few months.

Please DO NOT come to the surgery unless you are collecting medication or have been told to by a Receptionist or Health Care Professional.

We have decided to change our booking system to a telephone triage to limit footfall at the Practice.  Reception will add your name to a list and a Clinician (GP or Practitioner) will call you back and decide the best way to deal with your query.  Please ensure Reception have the correct contact details for you including email, mobile and landline.  Please be near your phone as we cannot keep trying to contact you if you do not answer.

As far as routine reviews are concerned i.e. Long-term condition reviews, we are currently going to continue providing these if the patient would like to attend (and has NO symptoms of Coronavirus).  Please monitor this page for updates.

Please do not worry about having to see a nurse or doctor to have you medication re-authorised, this will be done for you to ensure that you do not run out.

Nurses will continue treatment room services but you will be contacted prior to your appointment to ensure that you do not have any symptoms of Coronavirus.  These include services include childhood immunisations, cervical smear testing, depot contraception, zoladex, prostap and other injections as well as dressings.

We currently intend to continue doing blood tests as much as possible, but MUST prioritise those deemed essential i.e. individuals currently having cancer treatment, bloods needed to monitor patients taking certain drugs and bloods needed for an acute illness.

We are currently reviewing the method of INR testing for those patients who take warfarin especially as many of these patients may be asked to self-isolate in the coming weeks.  At the moment we are continuing the blood monitoring clinics, however some individuals may be offered a swap to an alternative medication that does not require monitoring.  You will be supported through this process by the doctors and nurses.

Moving forward

We are trialling various systems that will allow us to better manage the demand.  We will keep you informed as this progress.  Please monitor our website and encourage your families and friends to do the same.

We have been working on a business continuity plan in case staff are unable to work.  This includes remote working.  We are liaising with IT to get additional equipment to support this.
